I'm Still a Minor?

There’s been a lot of confusion lately because as a lot of you know, some of my doctors are in the pediatric field, and some of them are adult specialists. I’m going to go through them one-by-one and explain what’s going on.

Rheumatology: Recently, I made the switch from pediatric rheumatology to adult rheum. The reason for this is because my previous doctor told me that in her group, I had already aged out of the practice. Over the summer, I started seeing an adult rheumatologist who I had actually seen once when I was younger (a story of its own).

Neurology: I am still seeing the same pediatric neurologist as always. She actually changed practices about a year ago, but she wants to follow me because we have gotten super close over the last four years. She explained to me that neurology is different, because the basics are all the same, unless I start to develop a neurological condition that is seen in adults (Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Dementia, etc), in which case she would refer me to someone else.

Gastro: My gastro is like my grandpa, I don’t think he’ll ever let me go.

Pulmonology: My pulm has also said that she can hold on to me for the time being.

I am lucky to have an awesome group of doctors, who really care about me as a patient. I appreciate everything they have done for me, and all the support they have given me. I’d still be in the dark if it weren’t for them.

Love,

Ci
